Better Scrolling

by Brandonzx3

Better Scrolling is a client-side Fabric and Quilt utility that changes how the hotbar responds to the mouse wheel.

FabricQuiltClient-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.20.6 – 1.21

What it does

Players who scroll through the hotbar can adjust several behaviors: the mod can disable scrolling entirely, reverse the scroll direction, stop the selection from wrapping around when it reaches an end, and add a cooldown between slot changes. Each of these is a separate option, so a player can enable only the tweaks they want and leave vanilla behavior elsewhere.

Required dependencies are Fabric API and YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL), which provides the settings screen. Mod Menu is optional and gives access to that screen from the mod list. Because the mod only changes client input, a server does not need it and players can join a server without installing it. Builds cover 1.20.6 and 1.21, released under the MIT License, and the source code is open source with a public issue tracker.

Key features

  1. Scroll disabling

Turns off hotbar scrolling so the mouse wheel no longer changes the selected slot.

  2. Inverse scroll direction

Reverses the direction in which the mouse wheel moves through the hotbar slots.

  3. Overflow disabling

Stops the selection from wrapping from the last slot back to the first, or the reverse.

  4. Scroll cooldown

Sets a delay between hotbar changes, so fast wheel movement advances the selection more slowly.
