What it does

The mod spawns a broad set of creatures in the world. Its author notes list named mobs from several traditions, including Egyptian mythology such as Ammit, Brazilian folklore such as Saci, Curupira and Headless Mule, and Japanese figures such as the Kappa. Other entries are fictional or real animals, including a Platypus, a Lion, a Koala, a Hippo and a Lobster, alongside goblin, elf, dwarf and leprechaun types.

The mod is limited to Forge and covers five release versions, 1.12.2 – 1.17.1, with the latest file, 1.8.7 for 1.17.1, published on 2025-06-02. Better Creatures is client-side only, so servers can run without it and players alone need it. It is released under All rights reserved and is not open source.
