Bear Traps

by PizzaEight

Bear Traps lets players place traps on the ground that catch hostile mobs and any player who walks into them, after which the trap must be opened again before it can be reused.

What it does

Bear Traps is a Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt mod that adds a trap crafted at a crafting table from three iron ingots and a stone button. A placed trap stays open until a mob or player steps on it, damages the walker and holds it in place. The only way to free a caught mob is to break the trap, while a trap that has been used is closed and must be reset by pressing its button before it works again.

The mod can also be installed as a data pack, and it works like the regular trap: hostile mobs take damage and are stuck when they walk over it. A Redstone Block thrown at a placed trap upgrades it into an Upgraded Bear Trap. Only the server needs the mod to run, while players may leave it out. Files are published for 1.21.5 – 1.21.10, with 1.1+mod for 1.21.10 as the latest file on every loader, under All rights reserved and not open source.

Key features

  1. Crafted bear trap

The trap is made at a crafting table from three iron ingots and a stone button.

  2. Trapping mobs

A placed trap damages and holds hostile mobs and players that walk onto it, until the trap is broken.

  3. Resetting a used trap

After it has been sprung, the trap is closed and must be reopened with its button before it can catch again.

  4. Redstone upgrade

Throwing a Redstone Block at a placed trap converts it into an Upgraded Bear Trap.
