Basic Storage

by June

Basic Storage adds a plain crate block for bulk item storage, holding up to one billion items of a single type without needing upgrades.

FabricClient and serverGNU General Public License v3.0 or laterOpen source1.20.1 – 26.1.2

What it does

A crate stores one item type in large quantities, and the crate's contents remain when the crate is moved. Items can be deposited and withdrawn directly at the block. Right-clicking inserts one item, while shift-right-clicking moves every matching item from the player's inventory into the crate. Crates that hold items show the stored item in their model and list the item count in the tooltip, so their contents are visible without opening them. Crates are broken with an axe.

Crate Station acts as a quick-insert hub. Crates placed around it and linked through Crate Connectors join one network, and interacting with the station works much like interacting with a single crate. Hoppers, hopper carts and common storage mods can work with the crates. Crates and the station are craftable from early-game resources, with the station slightly harder to make. Basic Storage requires extra dependencies, which are installed alongside it. The mod is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later and runs on client and server.

Key features

  1. Single-type crates

Each crate stores up to one billion items of a single type, in a simple block with a direct interface.

  2. Quick deposit and withdraw

Right-click inserts one item and shift-right-click moves matching items from the inventory, so bulk transfers take a single click.

  3. Crate networks

Crate Station and Crate Connectors link crates into a network that can be accessed from one hub.

  4. Contents shown on the crate

A filled crate displays its item in the model and reports the count in the tooltip.

  5. Moving full crates

A crate keeps its contents when picked up and placed again, which makes relocating storage practical.

What the author says

Basic Storage adds simple, vanilla-friendly crates for players who want bulk storage without an upgrade system or a complicated GUI. Imagine you have a crate wall for materials such as stone, dirt, gravel and raw ore. You've just been on a mining trip and your inventory is full of these items. Simply shift right…
