Woodcutter

by Grolborne

Woodcutter lets a player turn logs into planks, stairs, slabs, doors and other wood blocks from a single crafting screen, without switching between recipes.

FabricClient and serverMIT License26.1 – 26.2

What it does

A crafting recipe for each wood type takes logs and produces the usual set of planks, stairs, slabs, doors, fences, signs, chests, ladders and barrels in one step. Dropping a log into the saw station lets the player pick what to make, and the output adjusts to the wood type, including oak, spruce, nether woods and bamboo. The material cost matches the vanilla crafting table recipe, so the mod removes clicks rather than adding free materials.

The mod is aimed at builders and players who set up wood-heavy projects and want to avoid jumping between the crafting table and the inventory several times to get stairs or a set of doors. Installation needs Fabric API on Fabric. Woodcutter runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. It is published for Fabric only, covering game versions 26.1 – 26.2 with four release versions, and the code is under the MIT License but is not open source.

Key features

  1. Saw station crafting

A saw station turns logs into stairs, slabs, doors and other wood blocks in one interaction.

  2. Wood type detection

The output adapts to the wood type put in, so oak, spruce, nether woods and bamboo each produce matching blocks.

  3. Vanilla-equal cost

Each recipe uses the same log count as the normal crafting table recipe, with no added material gain.

  4. Fewer inventory steps

Crafting table and saw station outputs replace repeated trips between recipes and inventory slots.

Use cases

Building wood-heavy projects

Builders can produce a full set of matching stairs, slabs and doors from one log stack while working on a build.

Quick block preparation

Players who need a single type of wood block can craft it directly instead of first making planks.

Who it’s for: Builders and players working with wood blocks in survival or creative worlds, and server owners who want fewer crafting steps for their players.

What the author says

Ever wish there was a stonecutter, but for wood? That's this. Drop a log in, pick what you want to make, and it spits it out. No jumping between the crafting table five times to get from log to stairs. Here's the thing that actually matters: this isn't one of those woodcutter mods that gives you way more than you…
