Balanced Skeleton
by rustercraft
Balanced Skeleton is a Forge mob mod that reduces how hard skeletons hit and how often their arrows land, for players whose modpacks feel oppressive.
What it does
In big modpacks, skeletons can fire quickly, reach far and hit with precision, so fights can feel one-sided even for a player wearing strong armor. This mod changes those values so skeletons stay dangerous while the fights become fairer. It lowers arrow damage, slows the attack speed, shortens the attack range and adds real inaccuracy, so arrows miss more often.
The mod is built for modpacks where skeletons combine badly with many other mobs. It works with Skeletons Strays and offers optional support for Wither Skeletons. A Skeleton Difficulty setting chooses how strong skeletons are, and changing it updates the balance values automatically. Its config exposes the mod toggle, a damage multiplier, attack delay, attack range and an inaccuracy multiplier, along with toggles for Strays and Wither Skeletons and debug logging.
Balanced Skeleton is published for Forge only, for 1.20.1, and it is released under All rights reserved, so it is not open source. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod. Changes do not alter drops, health or spawn rates, and the mod is lightweight and safe to add to existing worlds.
Key features
Lower arrow damage
Skeleton arrows deal less damage, with the multiplier set in the config.
Slower attacks
Skeletons wait longer between shots, which spaces out their attacks during fights.
Shorter range and inaccuracy
Skeletons reach a shorter distance and miss more often, so arrows no longer land with every shot.
Difficulty presets
A Skeleton Difficulty setting picks how strong skeletons are, and balance values follow the choice.
Strays and Wither Skeleton support
Strays are covered, and Wither Skeletons can be included or left out through their own toggle.

How it compares
No Skeletons is a Forge server-side only option, released under All rights reserved, for 1.20.1, and it removes skeletons instead of rebalancing them. Configurable Skeleton covers Fabric, Forge and NeoForge for 1.20.1 under the MIT License and is open source, and it runs on the server alone. Lost Skeleton is a Forge client and server mod for 1.20.1 under the MIT License, and it is not open source.

What the author says
Skeletons can be frustrating, especially in large modpacks. They shoot too fast, too far, and too accurately, making combat feel unfair even with good gear. Balanced Skeletons fixes that by making skeletons less oppressive while keeping them part of the game. Features - Reduces skeleton arrow damage - Slows down…
