by Mcjunky33

With Backup Mod installed on a Fabric server, the world can be saved on a schedule, by hand, or before a risky change, and older copies are removed automatically.

What it does

Backup Mod is a server-side Fabric mod that creates world backups as ZIP archives. Backups can run on a daily schedule set per day, be started manually with a command, or be uploaded as a ZIP file from a direct link. A limit on the number of stored backups deletes the oldest files first, so disk use stays bounded. Backups can be renamed, and specific folders or files can be excluded from or included in each one.

Restoring a backup is done with simple commands. Commands all begin with backup, and only server operators and players granted permission can run them, which keeps the controls with the server owner. The language of the messages can be changed with a command, with English, British English, German, French, Spanish and Polish available. The mod requires Fabric API and is published as open source under the MIT License, with source code public. It runs on the server alone, so players join without installing anything.

Key features

  1. Scheduled backups

Automatic backups run at times configured per day, so the server keeps recent copies without manual steps.

  2. Backup limit

When the number of stored backups passes the set limit, the oldest files are deleted automatically.

  3. Include and exclude paths

Individual folders or files can be left out of a backup or added to it, which keeps large unneeded data out of archives.

  4. Permission-gated commands

Only operators and authorized players can use the backup commands, and all of them start with backup.
