Backslot Mod adds a second inventory slot, the backslot, where players keep one item that is not in their hands.

What it does

Players can move an item into the backslot and swap it with the item they are holding, and the backslot item can be made to act as the main hand. Items can be blocked from the backslot through a blacklist, and an item marked to drop on death leaves the backslot when its owner dies. Admins can clear a player's backslot or check what it holds.

Items that use larger models are shown at a scaled-up size on the back, and the way each item appears can be edited in a JSON file under the mod's back transforms folder. An example pack named Belt Bundles shows several setups. Servers that run it need every player to install it too. Builds are published for Fabric and Quilt across 11 release versions, 1.20.1 – 26.3, under All rights reserved, and the code is not open source.

Installation requires Fabric API. Coffins and LambDynamicLights - Dynamic Lights are optional. Cardinal Components API is bundled inside the mod, so it does not need a separate install.

Key features

  1. Backslot inventory slot

    An extra slot holds one item outside the hotbar, kept while the player works with other items.

  2. Swap with the held item

    A player can exchange the backslot item with the one in hand, and select it as the main hand item.

  3. Blacklisted items

    Chosen items are blocked from entering the backslot, so the slot is not used for them.

  4. Scaled large items

    Items with larger models are displayed at a scaled-up size so they fit the backslot.

  5. Drop on death

    Backslot items can be set to drop when their owner dies, instead of returning to the inventory.

  6. Admin clear and check

    Operators can clear a specified player's backslot or view its contents.
