Azure’s Lifesteal

by deepazureblue

Azure's Lifesteal lets players take maximum health from one another in multiplayer, as a Magic mod that changes how death and combat work.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltServer required, client optionalAll rights reserved1.21.4 – 1.21.10

What it does

Defeating another player steals part of their maximum health and adds it to the winner, so a victorious player grows stronger while the loser shrinks. Dying reduces a player's total maximum health, which makes staying alive a real concern in a server world. Players can also withdraw hearts from their total into items, store them, trade them or gift them to others, using a trigger command such as withdrawing three hearts for a set amount.

The system is meant for survival worlds, and it can be adapted to other settings. Heart stealing only works between players, so mobs and environmental damage do not transfer hearts. Multiplayer servers can use it to set up rivalries, alliances and shared economies around health.

The mod runs on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, with files for 1.21.4 – 1.21.10. It is installed on the server, and the server needs it. A resource pack adds custom visuals for heart withdrawals, and a data pack is also required for the core behavior. Azure's Lifesteal is published under All rights reserved and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Steal maximum health

Defeating another player takes part of their maximum health and adds it to the victor's total.

  2. Lose hearts on death

Dying reduces total maximum health, so surviving becomes part of the challenge.

  3. Withdraw hearts as items

A trigger command turns a set number of hearts into a withdrawable item that can be stored or traded.

  4. Custom heart visuals

A resource pack provides the visuals for heart withdrawals and keeps them readable in the interface.
