Az's Mining Dimension

by Azturax

Az's Mining Dimension is a NeoForge world-generation mod for 1.21.1 that adds a separate dimension built for mining, reached through a portal the player lights.

NeoForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.21.1

What it does

The dimension is a copy of a normally generated overworld, with its own terrain and ore distribution, so a player can dig for ore there without touching the main world. Entry is by a portal frame made of cobblestone, or of cobbled deepslate for the Deepslate variant, lit with a Charged Amethyst placed inside the frame in the way a Nether Portal is ignited. The Charged Amethyst comes from a recipe that combines an Amethyst Shard with four copper ingots.

Time in the dimension is fixed at 6000, so the environment does not cycle through day and night. The server and every player need the mod installed. It is published only for NeoForge, with a single game version, 1.21.1, and the latest file, 1.0.1, is dated 2025-12-13. The license is All rights reserved, so the code is not open source.

Key features

  1. Mining dimension copy

The dimension is generated from an overworld copy, giving a separate area dedicated to mining.

  2. Charged Amethyst portal

A Charged Amethyst placed in a lit frame opens the portal, which the crafting recipe supplies from copper and amethyst.

  3. Deepslate variant

A deepslate version uses cobbled deepslate for the frame and a Deep Charged Amethyst to ignite it.

  4. Fixed time of day

Time inside the dimension stays at 6000, so the light level does not change over time.

Use cases

Long mining sessions

Players who want ores without travelling far through the main world can use the dimension as a dedicated mining area.

Server mining areas

Server owners can give players a separate mining space, since both sides run the mod.

Who it’s for: Players and server owners on NeoForge 1.21.1 who want an extra mining dimension reached through a lit portal, with no need for a separate world or a command to enter.

RealGronds Dimensional World is also client and server and runs on 1.21.1, but it is open source under the Apache License 2.0. World Dimension Nexus runs on 1.21.1 under the MIT License and is open source, but it is server required with the client optional, so players can join without it.

What the author says

Az's Mining Dimension offers a copy of the normally generated overworld, which serves as a mining dimension! 14 cobblestone just like you'd place it for a Nether Portal 1 Charged Amethyst to ignite the Portal!
