Auto Armor
by TheEpitex
Auto Armor is a server-side Fabric mod that equips armor found in a player's inventory without any manual swapping.
What it does
Auto Armor scans the inventory periodically and compares each armor piece against what the player is wearing. Each piece gets a score built from base armor points, protection and other enchantments such as Unbreaking and Mending, durability, and curse penalties. A piece replaces the worn one only when the scoring system rates it strictly better, so the player is not swapped to a marginally different item.
Because the mod runs on the server alone, players join without installing anything. Its full functionality works server-side, and it reacts to inventory changes and player joins in real time, so a better piece picked up mid-game is equipped without a command. The Elytra is always respected: a worn Elytra is not replaced, and it overrides the chestplate slot. A toggle lets a player turn the behavior off, and the mod honors that state.
Auto Armor is published for Fabric only, with files for 1.21.10 and 26.1.2, and the latest file is for 26.1.2 from 2026-05-05. The code is not open source; the mod is released under All rights reserved.
Key features
Automatic armor equipping
Armor found in the inventory is equipped when its score beats the currently worn piece.
Enchantment-aware scoring
Protection, Unbreaking, Mending and other enchantments add to a piece's score, alongside its base armor value.
Curse detection
Armor carrying the Binding Curse is skipped, so a cursed piece is never equipped automatically.
Elytra and toggle handling
A worn Elytra is left alone and overrides the chestplate, and the player can switch the behavior on or off.
