Audio Improvements
by NamelessJu
Audio Improvements changes how game sounds are positioned and faded, with settings for jukeboxes, note blocks, weather and mob sounds.
What it does
Sounds stop being affected by the direction the player is facing, while still getting quieter as the listener moves further away. Music blocks near the player can fade out the regular game music, and the vanilla music timing is replaced by a customizable random interval. Fade in and fade out durations can be set, and jukebox and note block handling can each be toggled separately, both enabled by default.
Options are sorted into groups for music boxes, tonal blocks, atmospheric sounds, solid blocks, hostile creatures, passive creatures, players and the surroundings. The options screen opens through the in-game mod list on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, or with the command /audioimprovements. Installation needs Fabric API and YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL) on Fabric, and YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL) on Forge and NeoForge. The mod is client-side only, so the server does not need it, and it is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later, making it open source. Files exist for 1.20 – 26.2 across Fabric, Forge and NeoForge.
