Ashen Witch Broom

by ousiqwq

Ashen Witch Broom adds a rideable, configurable witch's broom, along with a dyeable hat and outfit, to the Minecraft game for NeoForge.

NeoForgeClient and serverGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.21.1

What it does

Players can summon a broom from anywhere with the R key, then steer it with the forward, backward, turn left, turn right, sprint and modifier keys. The broom is both an item and an entity, so it can be stored in the inventory or ridden in the world. Its speed, flight limits and summoning range are set in the config menu, and the same settings can be reached in game through Mods, Ashen Witch Broom, Config.

Chunk loading commands also let a player keep a flying route or a remote area loaded by force-loading strong or weak chunks for long stretches. Commands for managing the broom and for force-loading chunks take x and z chunk coordinates, or block coordinates scaled by 16. Targeting another player requires operator permissions, and the target can be omitted to apply a command to the player themselves. Broom riding data is synced with the server, and a broom retrieved from unloaded chunks is handled correctly.

Ashen Witch Broom is an unofficial remake of the Witch's Broom mod for 1.21.1, and its broom design takes cues from Elaina's broom in the anime Wandering Witch. The original author updated the mod for 1.21.1 on 2025-10-20. The code is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and the mod runs on client and server.

What the author says

This mod was born from a burning desire to become a witch in Minecraft 1.21.1, forged through sleepless nights of coding. This is an unofficial remake of [Witch's Broom]. While it reuses the original assets, the code has been refactored to support NeoForge 1.21.x and above. (As of Oct. 20, 2025, the original author…
