Ash API
by Trikzon
Ash API is a library that gives multi-loader developers one interface over Fabric and NeoForge, and it is the base layer for several Trikzon mods.
What it does
Developers who build a mod for both Fabric and NeoForge from one codebase can use Ash API to call shared code instead of writing separate loader-specific calls. The library sits between the two loaders and is meant to be paired with a multi-loader development template such as Jared's MultiLoader-Template.
Four mods in the catalog require it: Transparent, Armor Visibility, Shuffle and Flourish. Ash API depends on Fabric API, which must be installed alongside it on Fabric. The library runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it when a required mod is present. Builds cover 1.19.3 – 1.21.6 across Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and the code is under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only.
Key features
Key mapping registry
KeyMappingRegistry offers a single way to register keybindings for both loaders.
Block use events
UseBlockEvent lets mods react when a player uses a block, through one shared event.
Mod and resource loading
ModLoader and ResourceLoader provide shared entry points for loading mod content and resources.
Client tick hooks
ClientTickEvents exposes tick hooks that mods can subscribe to during each client update.

Use cases
Multi-loader mod development
A developer maintaining one mod for Fabric and NeoForge can write shared logic once against Ash API.
Who it’s for: Mod developers who ship the same mod on Fabric and NeoForge and use a multi-loader development environment. Players who only need the four dependent mods do not interact with the API directly.
How it compares
Moonlight Core is open source under the GNU General Public License v2.0 only and runs on client and server for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, with files for 1.20.1 – 26.1.2. Balm is not open source, is released under All rights reserved, and works for 1.18 – 26.3 on either side, with neither side required. Ash API covers its own 1.19.3 – 1.21.6 range, runs on client and server, and is licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only.
