AntOS Computer | Quests + Guidebook

by craisinlord

AntOS Computer adds an in-world computer that players place down and use as a desktop, replacing the usual quest and guide books with an Archive, a mail app and a shop.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.20.1 – 1.21.1

What it does

Players place the computer in the world and open a desktop from it. Inside, the Archive collects discoveries, Antmail delivers messages, a file manager handles saved data, and a terminal, a paint program, a game and the Antazon shop sit alongside them. Task tracking is built into the same screen, so progress and objectives are read on the computer rather than in a separate book.

Modpack authors can extend it with their own material: entries that include previews and locate structures, disks that group several pieces of content, task chains with objectives and completion rewards, and data-driven Antmail messages. The mod depends on GeckoLib on both loaders, and on Fabric API when running on Fabric. Installation covers the server and each player's game. Builds are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, under All rights reserved, for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1.

Key features

  1. In-world computer desktop

A placeable computer opens a desktop with windows for the Archive, Antmail, files, a terminal and other apps.

  2. Archive of discoveries

The Archive records discoveries and can hold entries with previews, giving players a readable record of progress.

  3. Antmail messages

Data-driven messages arrive through an in-game mail app, so authors can script story and guidance without code.

  4. Task chains and rewards

Authors can build chains of objectives with completion rewards, all defined in data files.

  5. Extensible content

Custom entries, structure locating and disks that bundle content let modpack authors add their own material.

Use cases

Replacing a quest book

A modpack can present its progression through the computer instead of a physical quest or guide book.

Story delivery

Mail messages and Archive entries can carry narrative beats between tasks.

Who it’s for: Modpack authors who want an in-world progression interface, and players in packs that use it.
