Anti Tool Break
by BlazingTwist
Anti Tool Break stops tools from being used up in the last points of durability, so a player can keep precious gear intact.
What it does
The mod watches tools that a player has filtered as precious and blocks actions that would break them. Once a filtered item reaches a configurable durability value, attacking, block breaking and interacting with the item are cancelled. Sneaking can bypass the protection when a player needs to finish the job. Gold, diamond and netherite tools and enchanted tools above a durability threshold are kept by default, and the configuration can change which items fall under the rule.
Materials are sorted into wood, stone, iron, gold, diamond and netherite, and any other item made of those materials is covered too, for example flint and steel. Enchanted and non-enchanted items can be handled separately, so a player can protect enchanted gear without guarding every plain tool. The rules apply on the client alone, which means servers do not need the mod and the behavior is only a local safeguard.
The mod is published for Fabric, with builds covering 1.17 – 26.1.2 and the latest file for 26.1.2. It requires Cloth Config API and Fabric API, while Mod Menu is optional and gives access to the configuration screen. The license is Apache License 2.0, and the code is open source.
Key features
Durability threshold
A minimum durability value sets the point at which a filtered tool can no longer be used for attacks, mining or interaction.
Material filters
Tools are grouped by wood, stone, iron, gold, diamond and netherite, and other items made of those materials are included.
Enchantment handling
Enchanted and non-enchanted items can be filtered separately, so protection can target valuable enchanted gear.
Sneak bypass
Holding sneak lets the player break through the protection when a tool must be used to the end.
