Animated Chat Mod changes how incoming chat lines appear, drawing them with smooth, configurable animations on the client.
What it does
Chat text received by the player is shown with animation instead of appearing all at once. The effects can be turned on or off, and their timing is adjustable from the mod's main options. Because the animation works on text the client already receives, it does not require any change to the server's chat handling.
The mod is a client-side NeoForge mod, so only the player's game needs it, and players can join vanilla servers without installing it. Some servers modify messages before they reach the client, which can affect how the animations look. Files are published for Forge and NeoForge, with the latest NeoForge build for 1.21.1 and the latest Forge build for 1.20.6.
The mod works on vanilla servers, but the server-side Chat Plugin Required note in the author text should be read as a reminder that an optional plugin may be needed for full functionality. Chat history size and the maximum input length are adjustable, so players can tune how much text the chat keeps and how long a message can be.
