AdvancedChat replaces the default chat window on Fabric with a configurable chat HUD, tabs, message filters and a full-screen message log.
What it does
Most of the mod's options change how the chat window looks and behaves. Text and background colors can be set, the background behind the chat can be turned on, and the messages can be drawn with alternating lighter and darker stripes so each line is easier to tell apart. Blank lines can be inserted between messages, and every message can show a timestamp in a format the player chooses.
The message filter is the feature the author calls the main one. A filter can match words or whole lines, using plain text, regular expressions or a choice between case-sensitive and case-insensitive matching. A matching message can be recolored, replaced, blocked or accompanied by a sound. Chat tabs sort incoming messages into separate tabs, and a full-screen log lists every message received, which helps when a player wants to find one specific person's messages.
The mod runs on the client alone, and it is released under the Mozilla Public License 2.0 with public source code and an issue tracker. It supports Fabric only, with files for 1.16.2, 1.16.3, 1.16.4 and 1.16.5. The latest file is 3.2.0 for 1.16.5, published on 2021-04-20.

Chat Filters is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only and covers 1.21.9 – 26.2, which does not overlap with the 1.16.2 – 1.16.5 range of AdvancedChat. Hypixel Chat Tabs covers 1.21.8 – 26.2 under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.0 license and is not open source. Chat Tabs is open source under the MIT License and is published for 1.21.4 – 26.3, a later range than AdvancedChat's.
