AdvancedChatCore

by DarkKronicle

AdvancedChatCore is a client-side library that holds the shared base code for the AdvancedChat module family, released under the Mozilla Public License 2.0.

FabricQuiltClient-side onlyMozilla Public License 2.0Open source1.18.2 – 1.19.4

What it does

Chat modules built on AdvancedChat depend on AdvancedChatCore for internal features, such as filtering profanity from chat and displaying the time a message was sent. Players can open the modules list to see which features are active. The core also lets the modules run alongside older AdvancedChat versions, which keeps existing setups working.

AdvancedChat is split into several separate mods, and each one relies on this core. Players who want only some chat features can pick and choose the modules they need, and the main AdvancedChat mod is planned to serve as a bundle of those modules. Only AdvancedChatMacros is named as requiring it in the catalog.

Installation needs MaLiLib and Fabric API alongside the core. Mod Menu is strongly recommended for editing its configuration. AdvancedChatCore runs on the client only, so servers do not need it. Files are published for Fabric and Quilt, covering 1.18.2 – 1.19.4 with the latest build 1.19.4-1.5.10 for 1.19.4, released on 2023-03-31. The project is open source and has public source code, an issue tracker and a wiki.

Key features

  1. Shared chat filtering

The core provides the profanity filter that other chat modules use to hide unwanted words.

  2. Message timestamps

An option adds the time each chat message was sent, so older lines can be placed in order.

  3. Modules list

A list in the mod screen shows which AdvancedChat features are loaded and active.

  4. Modular design

Features sit in separate modules, so a player can enable only the ones wanted and leave out the rest.

Use cases

Who it’s for: Players who use AdvancedChat modules on Fabric or Quilt, and developers who want to build their own chat features on the same base.

How it compares

Full comparison

AdvancedChatCore is not a chat feature itself but a base that the AdvancedChat modules rely on. AdvancedChatMacros Reforged is a Fabric client mod for 26.1 – 26.3 under the Mozilla Public License 2.0 and is open source. AdvancedChatLog Reforged is also a Fabric client mod for 26.1 – 26.3, open source under the same license, and it handles chat logging rather than the shared base.
