Absurd Death Messages

Absurd Death Messages replaces ordinary death text with jokes, and a player can end up with a ridiculous one by eating a Whopper or drinking from a creeper's bucket.
What it does
Death messages in this mod are drawn from a list of absurd scenarios suggested by the author's audience. Among the scenarios are a Whopper that draws a pursuit from Ronald McDonald, and a player who stays in contact with grass for fifteen seconds. The requireTouchingGrass game rule switches the grass-touching cause on or off, and it is off by default.
A separate counting mode tracks deaths between players. The startdeathscounter command enables the trackDeaths game rule and sets up a scoreboard that shows each player's count above their head and in the tab list. Once a player reaches nine death messages, the final advancement fires and that player is announced as the winner. The stopdeathscounter command ends the game, resets the scoreboards and game rules, and announces the winner again.
The mod runs on NeoForge 1.21.4 only, and requires woodwalkers. Its latest file is 1.0.4, released 2025-12-06. It is released under the MIT License, but it is not open source. Both the server and every player need it, since the environment is client and server.

Who it’s for: Server owners and groups of players who want a light-hearted death counting game with comedic death messages. Those who need serious combat or survival gameplay will find it does not add to that.
How it compares
McDonalds Mod is server-side only, MIT licensed and published for 1.21.1 – 1.21.3, so players can join without installing anything. PointlessCraft and Knarfy Mod beta both run as client and server, but PointlessCraft is for 1.21.4 under All rights reserved, while Knarfy Mod beta targets 1.21.1 under the MIT License.
