2.0 Rediscovered
2.0 Rediscovered brings back the features of Minecraft 2.0, a joke release Mojang shipped in 2013, as working game content on Fabric.
What it does
The mod implements the joke features of the 2013 Minecraft 2.0 release in the current game. These include Etho Slabs, torches that burn out, pink withers, horses that are actually ponies, redstone bugs, diamond chickens and furnace heat. Each one changes how a familiar block or mob behaves, so the joke becomes part of survival play rather than a single screen.
The mod requires Fabric API and runs on Fabric for 1.20.1 – 1.21.1. Installation covers the server and each player's game. The license is CC0 1.0 Universal, and the source code and issue tracker are public. Files for 1.20.1, 1.20.2, 1.20.3, 1.20.4, 1.20.5, 1.20.6, 1.21 and 1.21.1 are listed, with 1.0.2-1.21 as the latest one, published on 2025-03-26.
Key features
Etho Slabs
Slabs are recreated with the behavior from the 2013 joke release, so they can be used as a playful variant of the standard block.
Burning torches
Torches burn out over time instead of lasting indefinitely, which changes how players plan lighting underground.
Pink wither
The wither appears in a pink variant with its own behavior, drawn from the original joke feature list.
Ponies and redstone bugs
Horses are replaced by ponies, and redstone circuits can show the quirks the 2013 release gave them.
