You're in Grave Danger
by b1n-ry
Players who die in You're in Grave Danger find their items placed in a grave at the death location, which they can return to and collect later.
What it does
On death, the player's items are stored in a grave block at the spot where the player died. The inventory layout is remembered, so the items return to their original slots when the grave is emptied. The mod is built on Cloth Config API and Fabric API, both of which must be installed alongside it. Those two dependencies are only needed on Fabric; on NeoForge, Cloth Config API is the one required library listed for the mod.
The mod offers many options. Server owners and players can choose which enchantments, including soulbound ones, stay in the inventory on respawn instead of going into the grave. Graves can be waterlogged, and their rendering can adapt to the block they stand on.
The mod is open source under the MIT License and is published for Fabric and NeoForge across 17 release versions, 1.16.5 – 1.21.1. It is a client and server mod: the server and every player need it, because it adds custom blocks and renderers. Snapshot builds are also published.
Key features
Inventory stored in graves
On death, the player's items are placed in a grave at the death location instead of dropping on the ground.
Layout restored on retrieval
The mod remembers the inventory layout, so items return to their original slots when the grave is collected.
Player face and name on graves
In multiplayer, a grave can show the owner's face and player name, making it simple to find one's own grave.
Configurable soulbound handling
Enchantments can be set to stay in the inventory on respawn or to drop into the grave, and a config controls what happens on death.
Resource pack customization
Block shape, render layers, the skull model and the text shown on a grave can be changed with resource packs in every supported version.

Use cases
Survival worlds
Players who want a clear place to recover items after death can use graves instead of loose drops.
Multiplayer servers
Server owners can tune the death rules in the config and let players locate their graves by face and name.
Who it’s for: Players and server owners who want to adjust what happens to items on death, and modpack builders who need graves that match an existing inventory mod.
How it compares
