WSkinLoader
by wupengabc
WSkinLoader lets a Fabric client load custom skins and capes from several third-party APIs while keeping official Mojang textures for premium players.
What it does
Offline-mode players can use custom skins and capes, which vanilla Minecraft does not allow. The loader tries Mojang textures first, so premium accounts keep their official skin, and falls back to the configured custom sources only when the account has no texture of its own. Even while the Mojang session server is temporarily unreachable, a premium account's skin stays in place unless the protection setting is turned off.
Custom sources are HTTP(S) APIs such as LittleSkin and Blessing Skin, and each one can be given a display alias. Sources are tried in a fixed order, and a player can be pinned to one API index, forced past the premium check, or assigned a model type of auto, slim or wide. Per-player overrides and a texture mapping between players let one person take on another's appearance through a single command, applied immediately with no relog. Textures already fetched are stored locally for each player, so reloads are instant and work offline.
The mod is client-side only, so servers need nothing installed and players join without it. It runs on Fabric in 11 release versions, 1.16.5 – 26.3, with a Mod Menu integration available as an optional dependency. The code is covered by All rights reserved and is not open source.
Key features
Premium-first loading
Mojang textures are loaded first, and the loading strategy and the Mojang-unavailable behavior can be configured.
Custom skin and cape APIs
HTTP(S) skin and cape APIs are tried in a set order, each with a display alias name.
Per-player overrides
A player can be forced to a fixed API index, have the premium check skipped, or be given a model type of auto, slim or wide.
Player texture mapping
One command makes a player wear another player's skin or cape, effective immediately without relogging.
