Wild Fields
by Almiris
Wild Fields adds expansive open biomes such as prairies, pampas and tundra, and it is compatible with existing worlds.
What it does
Wild Fields generates new biomes inspired by real-world open landscapes, including prairies, pampas and tundra. Each biome has its own terrain, climate and resources, and the transitions between neighboring biomes are meant to feel continuous. Biome-specific villages, mobs, trees, plants and food items are added alongside the terrain, and the new biomes generate in existing worlds.
Installation needs Fabric API on Fabric, and Geckolib and TerraBlender on every loader. Wild Fields runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, with builds covering 1.19.4 – 1.21.1, under the MIT License, and the source code is open source with a public issue tracker.
Key features
Expansive new biomes
Prairies, pampas, tundra and steppes are added as large open biomes, with terrain and climate distinct from vanilla biomes.
Biome-specific villages
Villages are generated with designs suited to the biome they appear in, so each landscape has its own settlements.
Biome-specific mobs and plants
New mobs, trees, plants and food items belong to particular biomes, which gives each area its own wildlife and flora.
Atmosphere and ambience
The biomes come with ambient sounds and visuals meant to make open landscapes feel alive while exploring.

Use cases
Exploring new landscapes
Players who want longer journeys across open ground can travel through grasslands and frozen tundras that vanilla worlds do not contain.
Who it’s for: Wild Fields suits survival players and world builders who want more open terrain and biome variety in new or existing worlds. Server owners can add it to a world without starting a new one.
How it compares
Nature's Spirit is a Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt mod for 1.20.1 – 1.21.1, released under a custom license and not open source. Wild Wheat is an MIT-licensed mod for Forge and NeoForge across 1.20.1 – 1.21.1, and it is not open source. Wild Fields differs by covering Fabric as well as Forge and NeoForge, and by sharing the MIT License with its open source code.
