WhoAmI
by Calyren
WhoAmI changes how a server assigns player identities when online mode is switched off, so offline-mode servers can keep real account UUIDs.
What it does
On a server running with online_mode set to false, a player joining normally receives a random offline UUID that does not match their Mojang account. WhoAmI checks Mojang's API for the account name, finds the real UUID and assigns it instead. The result is that inventories, permissions and other per-player data stay attached to the same player after a switch in either direction.
Only the server needs the mod: players join without installing anything, and the environment is server-side only. Files are published for Fabric 1.20.1 and NeoForge 1.21.1, under the MIT License, and the project is open source with public source code and an issue tracker.
Key features
Real UUID lookup
Joining players are checked against Mojang's API so their account UUID is found by name.
Offline UUID fallback
When no account matches, a random offline UUID is assigned as usual, so unlicensed joins still work.
Per-player data retention
Player data keyed by UUID remains tied to the same person on servers that run without online mode.

Use cases
Offline-mode survival servers
A server that disables online mode to allow unlicensed clients can keep each player's UUID and saved progress.
Switching online mode
Owners who move a server between online and offline mode can avoid losing player data tied to the UUID.
Who it’s for: Server owners running online_mode false who want player UUIDs resolved from Mojang accounts. Players on the client side do not need the mod.
How it compares
