WebStreamer

by theorozier

WebStreamer lets a player show a live web stream or static image on in-game screens, with support for Twitch and HLS streams.

FabricClient or server, optionalGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.18.2 – 1.20.4

What it does

Screens in the game can display web resources, including static images and HLS streaming video. Streams from Twitch are supported, so a player can place a live channel on a wall or in a display area. The mod is built on Fabric API, which must be installed alongside it.

Environment-wise, either side can run WebStreamer, and neither needs it. Installing it on a client alone is enough for the screens to work, and a server can run it too. Files target 1.18.2 – 1.20.4 and the latest Fabric build, 1.5.0 for 1.20.4, was published on 2024-03-09. The code is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only.

Key features

  1. Web resources on screens

In-game screens can load and show web content, so a page or media source can be placed inside the world.

  2. Static images

Screens also display still images from the web, for signs, posters and decorative panels.

  3. HLS streaming

HLS video streams play on in-game screens, which lets a build show a live feed rather than a fixed picture.

  4. Twitch streams

Twitch channels are supported as a source, so a streamer or viewer can put a channel on a display.
