Weather2 Compatibility Bridge

by donflymoor

Weather2 Compatibility Bridge makes machines, mobs and crops that check for rain recognize Weather2's own rainfall, not just vanilla weather.

ForgeClient or server, optionalApache License 2.0Open source1.20.1

What it does

Weather2 replaces vanilla weather with its own dynamic weather system. Many mods still read rain through the standard World isRaining and Entity isInRain checks, so their rain-dependent features can miss Weather2 storms. This bridge swaps the vanilla check for Weather2's rain check, so barrels, tanks, machines and mobs that depend on rain respond to the storms Weather2 generates. Rain-fed barrels and tanks fill during Weather2 rainfall, certain modded crops grow faster in it, and mob behavior shifts with the weather.

The mod is a lightweight utility intended to be dropped into a Forge 1.20.1 setup alongside Weather2 and its required dependency, Weather Storms & Tornadoes. It is published under the Apache License 2.0, and its source code and issue tracker are public. Because it only changes how rain is detected, it adds little overhead and needs no configuration to install. Only the client needs it: either side can run it, and neither needs it, so it can be added to a server, a client or both.

Key features

  1. Weather2 rain detection

Mods that call the standard rain checks receive Weather2's rainfall state instead of the vanilla value.

  2. Rain-driven machines

Machines and devices that activate during rainfall work when the storm comes from Weather2.

  3. Rain-fed containers

Barrels and tanks that collect rain fill during Weather2 downpours.

  4. Mob and crop reactions

Mob behavior and certain modded crops respond to Weather2 weather conditions.

Questions

Does Weather2 Compatibility Bridge need Weather Storms & Tornadoes?

Yes. Weather Storms & Tornadoes is a required dependency and must be installed alongside the bridge and Weather2.

Which loader does the bridge support?

The bridge is published only for Forge, with a single file for 1.20.1 released on 2025-04-17.

Does the server need the bridge?

No. Either side can run it, and neither needs it, so installing it on one side is enough.
