Wan's Ancient Beasts

by WanMine

Players who reach Minecraft's prehistoric beasts can tame, feed and fight them in Wan's Ancient Beasts, which adds prehistoric mobs to Forge and NeoForge.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.20 – 1.21.1

What it does

The mod adds creatures from prehistory that behave differently from vanilla mobs. Most are neutral: they stay passive until attacked, and some sit down and loaf from time to time. Holding a provoking food item makes a creature attack, and feeding one makes it over-aggressive for a single hit. Sweet Berries make taming easier, and a beast can be ridden in the same way as a horse, though taming takes longer. Falling off a beast results in one retaliatory attack. Raiders are natural enemies of these creatures and are attacked on sight. Dropped eggs can bring a lost species back to life.

The mod depends on Geckolib, which must be installed alongside it. Wan's Ancient Beasts runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Files are published for Forge and NeoForge, for 1.20.1 as the latest file, and the mod's own range covers 1.20 – 1.21.1. The code is covered by All rights reserved, so the mod is not open source.

Key features

  1. Neutral prehistoric mobs

Creatures stay passive until attacked, with a few that sit down and loaf now and then.

  2. Provoking food

Holding a certain food provokes an attack, and feeding one makes a beast over-aggressive with double damage for one hit.

  3. Taming and riding

Beasts can be tamed like horses, with Sweet Berries shortening the process, and ridden after taming.

  4. Raider hunting

Beasts attack Raiders on sight, so they act as defenders in raided areas.
