Visceral Heap Fix

by RedCraft86

Visceral Heap Fix changes how generated tendons in the Visceral Heap biome of Biomes O Plenty are placed, so they no longer end cut off or stretched.

ForgeNeoForgeServer-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.20.1 – 1.21.1

What it does

In the Visceral Heap biome, tendon features can spawn too close to the floor, get cut off halfway, or be stretched across many blocks. Some blocks are not placed at all, which leaves a disconnected, broken shape. The mod uses a Mixin to alter how these features are generated, which targets those problems directly.

The fix is most visible when Biomes O Plenty is installed alongside a mod that raises the height of the Nether, such as an Amplified Nether setup. Visceral Heap Fix is listed for Forge and NeoForge, and it is open source under the MIT License. Its generation settings are exposed in a config file, so server owners can fine-tune how tendons are placed.

The mod is server-side only, so players join without installing it and only the server needs it. Files exist for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, with 2.0.2 as the latest release for each.

Key features

  1. Tendon placement fix

Tendons in the Visceral Heap biome are generated without being left disconnected, broken or cut short in most cases.

  2. Mixin-based generation change

The fix works by altering the generation process itself, so the change applies to how features are built in the world.

  3. Configurable generation settings

Several settings related to feature generation are exposed in the config, so the placement can be tuned to a server's preferences.

  4. Known remaining edge case

Some tendons can still stop halfway, but this is rare enough that it does not affect most worlds.

What the author says

If you install Biomes O' Plenty, along with a mod that increases the Nether's height like Incendium or Amplified Nether, you'll notice that if a Visceral Heap biome spawns close to the floor, some of the tendons it generates will either get cut off halfway or will get stretched out so much that some blocks aren't…
