VillagerViewer

by PtolemaicQueen

VillagerViewer lets a player open and edit the inventory of a villager by sneaking and right-clicking it, optionally while holding a stick.

FabricGNU General Public License v3.0 or laterOpen source1.21.4 – 1.21.10

What it does

A player who sneaks and right-clicks a villager opens that villager's inventory screen, where items can be inspected and moved. The stick requirement is switched on by default, so a player must hold a stick for the interaction to open the screen. Server owners who want plain sneak-and-click access can turn the requirement off in the configuration.

The mod is a Fabric mod that runs on the client and the server, so both sides need it. It is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, and its source code and issue tracker are public. On the first launch it creates its configuration file by itself, so the behavior can be adjusted through a properties file without editing the code.

The mod was first published on 2025-07-30 and last updated on 2025-10-04. Its latest Fabric file is 1.21.9 for 1.21.10, and files also exist for 1.21.4, 1.21.5, 1.21.7, 1.21.8 and 1.21.9.

Key features

  1. Villager inventory access

Sneaking and right-clicking a villager opens its inventory screen for inspection and item interaction.

  2. Optional stick requirement

A stick can be required in hand as an extra step before the villager's inventory opens, and the default enables it.

  3. Properties file settings

Behavior is set in a properties file, which the mod creates automatically the first time it runs.

  4. Automatic configuration

No manual setup is needed: the configuration file is generated with default values on first launch.
