View Distance Fix

View Distance Fix stops the fog that appears when a client's render distance is higher than the server's.

What it does

Fog shows up at the edge of loaded chunks when a player sets a render distance above the one the server allows. This Fabric and Quilt mod runs only on the server, which tells the client it uses the same render distance the player has chosen, so the fog no longer appears. Players join without installing anything. The mod is published for 1.19.2 – 26.3 with All rights reserved, so the code is not open source.

Key features

  1. Hides distance fog

    Removes the fog band at the edge of the view when the client renders farther than the server sends chunks.

  2. Keeps player render distance

    Players who join keep their own render distance setting, and the view stays clear at the distance they chose.

  3. Corrects the client view

    The server reports a matching render distance to each client, so the visible area is no longer cut off by fog.
