VexFPS

by Foccus

Players who want a simple frame rate readout can use VexFPS, a Fabric client mod that shows the current FPS on screen without opening the F3 debug screen.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT License1.21.11

What it does

The counter sits in the bottom-left corner by default and can be moved to another position through a GUI opened with J. Its text has a shadow to stay readable over busy scenes, and the HUD is kept to a clean, minimal layout that removes unnecessary background elements. Several color presets let the display match the rest of the interface.

VexFPS is client-side only, so only the player's client needs it and servers do not. It requires Fabric API and is published for 1.21.11 only, in a single Fabric build dated 2026-06-18. The mod is released under the MIT License and is not open source. Settings are saved automatically, and the display can be toggled with U or hidden by a smart auto-hide tied to the F3 screen.

Key features

  1. Minimal FPS counter

Shows the current frames per second as a lightweight, uncluttered line of text on screen.

  2. Movable position

The counter can be placed in a chosen corner through a dedicated position GUI opened with J.

  3. Color presets

Several preset colors are available so the counter can match the look of the HUD.

  4. Toggle and auto-hide

The display can be switched on and off with U, and it hides automatically when the F3 debug screen is open.

Use cases

Checking performance quietly

A player who wants frame rate numbers without the full F3 screen can keep a small counter visible during play.

Tuning graphics settings

Players adjusting render distance or video options can watch the counter change while they test each setting.

Who it’s for: Players who want an FPS readout with minimal screen clutter, and players who prefer a counter that can be moved and recolored.

How it compares

Full comparison

HUD+ is a Fabric client mod for 1.21 – 1.21.11 with an all rights reserved license and no open source code, a wider HUD tool than a single counter. Show My FPS is a client-side only Fabric mod under the MIT License, open source, published for 1.21 – 1.21.5, so it covers fewer game versions than VexFPS.

Questions

Yes. Fabric API is listed as a required dependency, so it must be installed next to VexFPS on Fabric.

Does the server need VexFPS?

No. Players add it to their own game, and a server needs no copy.

Which game versions does VexFPS support?

The mod has a single build for 1.21.11, dated 2026-06-18, so it is not available for earlier releases.
