Vanillify Library
by AuxAtlas
Vanillify Library is a server-side library for Fabric and Quilt that lets other mod developers create server-only items, blocks and entities that appear as vanilla content to players.
What it does
The library supports modded items, modded blocks and modded entities, including blocks that carry block entities and chest-style GUIs. Crafting recipes can use modded items and blocks, and a modded block can be shown to clients as a vanilla block, depending on the use case. A custom display name can be set so that vanilla clients see a name on a held item.
Because the mod sits on the server, the modifications reach players through packets that the library rewrites on their way from the server to the client. An example given in the author text is a block that teleports a player to a new dimension while looking like an ordinary obsidian block. Many other mods use the library as a base for their own server-side content.
The mod is open source under the CC0 1.0 Universal license and is published for Fabric and Quilt, with the file mc1.19-v0.4.1 for 1.19 released on 2022-06-27. Its source code and wiki are public. Server owners install it, and players connect with no copy of their own.
Key features
Server-only content creation
Developers can add items, blocks and entities that exist only on the server while players see familiar vanilla content.
Block entities and chest GUIs
Modded blocks with block entities are supported, along with chest-style graphical interfaces, which are mostly complete.
Custom recipes and display names
Crafting recipes can use modded items and blocks, and held items can show a custom display name to vanilla clients.
Packet rewriting
The library alters the traffic that carries world data from the host to each connected client, so a block can look vanilla while behaving differently.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.
Use cases
Who it’s for: Mod developers building server-side content for Fabric or Quilt on Minecraft 1.19, and server owners who run mods that depend on this library.
How it compares
Entity Health Display is also server-side only and open source under the MIT License, but it targets 1.20.2 – 1.21.3 and does not provide a block or item library. Command Config Lib is server-side only as well, under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and covers 1.16 – 1.20.1, so it does not reach 1.19 with the same scope. Simple GUI API and Fancy Entity Renderer are client-side only, so they serve a different side of the game.

What the author says
It does this by modifying the packets that are sent from the Minecraft server to the Minecraft client! For example, you can make a block that teleports the player to a new dimension, but on the client the block looks like a block of obsidian(or any block you specify!). This works for large amount of modded items and…
