Undo

by aaa6795

Undo lets players reverse recent world changes with a single key press, which helps when a block is placed or broken by accident.

FabricQuiltClient and serverCreative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.01.21.1 – 26.2

What it does

Undo records block placements, breaks and state changes such as doors, trapdoors, levers and buttons, so each one can be reverted in order. Chain reactions triggered by block changes, including falling sand, vine growth, redstone updates and piston pushes, are captured as one undo operation. Chest contents, furnace progress and brewing stand recipes are restored along with the blocks.

Pressing U opens the vanilla settings screen, and the mouse side buttons toggle between undo modes that cover full blocks only or every change. A HUD display shows the number of undoable and redoable actions in real time. The mod is aimed at Creative mode builders who want to compare designs or go back to a previous state. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod. Fabric and Quilt builds cover 1.21.1 – 26.2, and the code is not open source, since it is released under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.0 license.

Key features

  1. Single-key undo

A single key press reverts the most recent world action, with redo available to restore it.

  2. Block state restoration

Doors, trapdoors, levers and buttons return to their previous state when an action is undone.

  3. Chain reaction capture

Changes triggered by other blocks, such as falling sand and piston pushes, are grouped into one operation.

  4. Block entity restoration

Chest contents, furnace progress and brewing stand recipes come back with the reverted blocks.

How it compares

Full comparison

Ctrl+Z is a Fabric-only mod for 26.3 that runs client-side only and is open source under the MIT License, so it covers a single version and needs nothing on the server. Reden is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, with Fabric and Quilt files for 1.20 – 1.21.8, and either side can run it without needing it. Undo is not open source and is released under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.0 license, so it must run on both the client and the server.
