Uncrafting Recipes
by the_tizio
Uncrafting Recipes lets a player break an item back into the materials used to craft it, using recipes shipped as data-driven datapacks.
What it does
The mod adds uncrafting recipes for most vanilla items, so a stack of slabs, stairs or copper blocks can be returned to its base material. Where an item is crafted from one ingredient, uncrafting gives back the same amount. Where it is crafted from two or more items, the most valuable input is returned, so a potion yields its glass bottle and a tipped arrow yields a normal arrow. Potions are covered except the bad omen one.
Because the recipes are data-driven, a server owner can add, remove or modify them through a datapack. The mod runs on the server only, so players join without installing anything. It is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 21 release versions, 1.16.5 – 26.3, and is released under the MIT License, but it is not open source. Recipe conflicts with other mods are possible, and the author recommends installing Polymorph alongside it.
Key features
Vanilla item uncrafting
Nearly every vanilla item can be turned back into its base materials through its own uncrafting recipe.
Single-ingredient returns
Items crafted from one ingredient give back the same amount of material, so no resources are lost in the trade.
Valuable input recovery
When several inputs are used, the most valuable one is returned, such as the glass bottle from a potion.
Datapack recipe editing
Each uncrafting recipe is data-driven, so it can be added, removed or changed through a datapack.

Use cases
Recovering materials
A player who has crafted a surplus of building blocks can break them back down into their raw material instead of discarding them.
Tailoring a server economy
A server owner can adjust which items uncraft and into what, using datapacks, to match the progression of their world.
Who it’s for: Players and server owners who want to reverse crafting in survival or modded worlds. Players join a server that runs it without installing the mod.
How it compares
Simple Uncrafting Table is client and server, open source under the MIT License, and published for 1.16.4 – 26.1.2, so it adds a table block rather than recipes. Avid Uncrafting is client and server, open source under the MIT License, and published only for Forge 1.19.2. Uncraft Quartz Blocks is server required with client optional, not open source, under All rights reserved, and covers 1.21.4 – 26.3 on Quilt as well.

What the author says
As the mod adds a lot of recipes, if you have a recipe conflict with other mods, I recommend installing Polymorph.
