Unbreaka-tools

by KodiiTulip

Unbreaka-tools is a data pack that gives held and worn items the minecraft:unbreakable component, so tools and armour stop losing durability.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltServer required, client optionalMIT License1.20.5 – 26.1.2

What it does

The data pack adds the minecraft:unbreakable component to items in the main hand, the off hand and the armour slots, so an item keeps its durability at its current value however much it is used. Items placed in trinket, curio or accessory slots also receive the component, which is useful when a modpack keeps gear there instead of in the hotbar. An item held in the off hand no longer causes the main hand item to lose durability through that path.

The server must run the data pack for the behaviour to apply, while players may add the mod on their side, and the server does not need the client-side build to be installed by players. It is distributed as a data pack for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and the latest files target 26.1.2. Builds exist for 1.20.5 – 26.1.2 across 17 release versions plus snapshots. The code is released under the MIT License and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Unbreakable hand and armour items

Items in the main hand, off hand and armour slots receive the unbreakable component and stop wearing down.

  2. Accessory slot support

Items placed in trinket, curio or accessory slots also gain the component, so gear kept there does not break.

  3. Off hand fix

An off hand item no longer makes the main hand item lose durability.

  4. Simple data pack

The change ships as a plain data pack, with no separate code to install beyond the loader's own dependency.

What the author says

I've recently played minecraft with the Enchancement mod and fell in love with the ability to have tools that never break! But! I've had problems including the mod into modpacks — either because of incompatibility or just mod loader issues — especially in versions of 1.21.1, and yet I wanted eternal tools.
