Treasure2
by gottsch
Treasure2 adds locked chests, keys, mimics and themed loot to Minecraft, so that finding a container becomes a small puzzle rather than a routine pickup.
What it does
Treasure2 places new rare chests across the world. Each chest is secured by a lock that opens only with its matching key, and the mod supplies several lock types. Players can carry extra keys in a pouch, store coins and gems there, and hold multiple keys on a Key Ring that selects the correct one when a lock is opened. An inventory lock is also available. Mimics, which pretend to be ordinary containers, have been redesigned and joined by five new variants named Cardboard Crate, Moldy Crate and Viking Cauldron.
The mod adds a set of new weapons and collectibles that match the standard versions of existing items, without requiring a separate sub-mod. The content is geared toward the vanilla game, so the power of the items stays modest. Treasure2 can be used alone or with datapacks that populate chest loot tables, and add-on mods can build on it. A Twilight Forest datapack is available as a reference for how a datapack can be set up for Treasure2.
Servers that run it need every player to install it too. It is published for Forge and NeoForge, for game versions 1.20.1 – 1.21.1, under the Open Software License 3.0, and the source code is public.
