JtC Totem Mobs
JtC Totem Mobs lets a player give a Totem of Undying effect to a mob by right-clicking it while holding a Totem of Undying in the main hand.
What it does
Once a mob is toggled, a short-lived totem effect takes over when it would otherwise die: the death is cancelled for a brief moment and the mob receives Regeneration 3 and Resistance 3 along with Fire Resistance. While the effect is active the mob emits particles, so a player can see which creatures are protected. The mod is useful for pets such as a dog, and it works with mobs of any kind, including hostile monsters.
The mod works through a mob attribute instead of placing a real Totem item, so it does not conflict with the mechanics of mobs or with items, and it should not conflict with other mods that change mob code. It is described as working well with modded mobs. Files are published for Forge and NeoForge across 10 release versions, 1.16.5 – 1.21.5, with separate builds for older and newer releases. Only the server and every player running it need the mod, and the code is licensed as All rights reserved, so the mod is not open source.
Key features
Totem toggle on mobs
Right-clicking a creature with the totem in hand switches the effect on for that mob.
Death cancellation
A protected mob survives a lethal hit for a brief moment and gains Regeneration 3 and Resistance 3.
Fire resistance
The protected mob also gains Fire Resistance while the effect is active.
Visible particles
Particles appear around each mob with the effect, so players can tell which creatures are protected.
Attribute-based design
The mob receives a mob attribute rather than a real Totem item, so no totem is consumed or dropped.
