Toss To Trash

by Fabric Server Essentials

Toss To Trash is a server-side Fabric mod that replaces dropped items with a virtual disposal bin opened by the trash command.

FabricServer-side onlyAll rights reserved1.21 – 26.3

What it does

The mod targets entity lag caused by items dropped into the world. Instead of spawning item entities that remain on the ground, a player who runs the trash command gets a private 27-slot single chest interface. Nothing dropped in the world is ever spawned, so no item entities accumulate for the server to track.

Every time the screen opens, the server builds a new inventory with nothing in it, and that inventory is wiped when the screen closes. Items placed in the interface stay there while it is open, and players can drag items in and double-check them before committing. The moment the interface closes, any item still inside is permanently deleted, so the bin does not keep items between sessions.

Because the command goes through the server's command dispatcher, chat auto-suggestions list it the same way they list built-in commands. Because the mod runs on the server only, vanilla clients can join and use the trash command right away. Installing it requires Fabric Loader for the Minecraft version the server runs, and the Toss Trash configuration file needs setup before first use. Files are published for Fabric only, across 17 release versions, 1.21 – 26.3, under All rights reserved.

Key features

  1. Virtual disposal bin

The trash command opens a private 27-slot chest that stands in for dropped items.

  2. Permanent deletion on close

Items left in the interface are deleted the moment it closes, with no recovery.

  3. Per-session isolation

Each opening gives a fresh inventory, so contents never carry over between uses.

  4. Command suggestions

The trash command is registered with the server dispatcher and appears in chat suggestions.

Who it’s for: Server owners running Fabric who want to cut down on dropped item entities, and players on those servers who need a quick way to discard unwanted items.

How it compares

Full comparison

Virtual Storage is server-side only and open source under the MIT License, with files for 1.21.8 – 26.1.2, so it also runs without client installs but is a storage system rather than a disposal bin. Trash Remover is for Fabric 1.21 and needs both client and server, under the MIT License and not open source. IoTcraft is client-side only, open source under the MIT License, and covers 1.20.1 – 1.21.4, so it does not affect the server at all.
