TNTSweeper

by TChar1ie

TNTSweeper adds a board-clearing puzzle game to Minecraft, played on a grid of blocks where some hide bombs and the rest are safe to reveal.

ForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.20.1

What it does

Players start the game by obtaining the TNTSweeper Creator block and right-clicking it to open a GUI, where one of three difficulties is chosen: the lowest, the middle or the highest bomb count. Once a difficulty is picked, a right click reveals a space, and the first space revealed is never a bomb. The middle space of the board is always safe as well.

Some grid positions use variety blocks, among them Randomizer Blocks, which pick at random whether they hold a bomb or a safe space. A left click on a space marks a suspected bomb with a flag, and a player wins once every bomb has been discovered. When a game is won, failed or stopped, the Remove Game button clears the board. Built-in in-game help explains how to play TNTSweeper.

The mod runs on the client and the server, so both the server and every player need it. It is built for Forge 1.20.1 only, with a single release, 1.0.0, published on 2024-04-13. All rights reserved, so the code is not open source. The author recommends spacing games apart to avoid bugs.

Key features

  1. Three difficulties

The creator GUI offers three boards, each with its own number of bombs, selected before a game starts.

  2. Protected opening

The first revealed space and the middle space are always safe, so a game never starts on a bomb.

  3. Randomizer blocks

Variety blocks such as Randomizer Blocks decide at random whether they hold a bomb or a safe space.

  4. Flagging suspected bombs

A left click places a flag on a space the player thinks is a bomb, and a win is recorded once all bombs are found.

Server owners can host the puzzle for several players, with each game spaced apart from the others to limit bugs.

Who it’s for: The mod suits players who want a Minesweeper-style puzzle inside Minecraft and server owners who run minigames on Forge 1.20.1.
