Third Person Death Continued

by CaffeinePX

Third Person Death Continued changes the death camera so the view swings to a third-person angle and slowly pulls back until the player respawns.

FabricClient-side onlyGNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 or laterOpen source26.1.2 – 26.3

What it does

On death, the camera switches from first person to a third-person view that starts close to the body and gradually zooms out until respawn. The behavior is modeled on Bedrock Edition's death camera while keeping the Java Edition button layout. The mod only touches the client, so a server does not need to run it and players can join a server without installing it.

The mod is a continuation of the Third Person Death mod by CaffeinePX, updated to work with the 26.1.2 line and later. Its author reports that the project has since moved toward its own features rather than staying a straight copy of the maintained fork. Files are published for Fabric only, for 26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3, and the latest is 1.2.4 for 26.3, released on 2026-09-17. The code is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 or later, and source code is public.

Setup requires nothing beyond placing the file in the mods folder, and the author describes the mod as having negligible effect on game performance. Players should make sure they get the build that matches their Fabric version.

What the author says

This used to be a maintained fork of the mod, updated for newer Minecraft versions 26.1+ but recently I've been adding more complexity/features to the mod, so the mod is diverging to be more of it's own thing rather than a maintained fork with just updates, but it is still a ThirdPersonDeath mod!
