Thermodynamica

by Tribulla

Thermodynamica is a library mod that adds realistic heat transfer to Minecraft, available for Fabric and Forge.

FabricForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.20.1 – 1.20.6

What it does

Thermodynamica provides a heat simulation engine that spreads temperature between blocks using a parallelized Breadth-First Search, which keeps active heat sources from slowing a server down. Only client and server together run it, so both sides need the mod installed. The library is published for 1.20.1 – 1.20.6, and the source code is open source under the MIT License.

Key features

  1. Heat simulation

Temperature diffuses across blocks over time, and the engine handles large areas with many active heat sources.

  2. Parallel calculation

Diffusion runs through a parallelized search, so thousands of blocks can be updated without stalling the server.

  3. Data pack setup

Blocks and heat properties can be generated with a standalone Python GUI tool, so no JSON has to be written by hand.
