the Shadow Tapes
Shadow Tapes adds unseen creatures to Minecraft that stalk players deep underground, and the Forge mod is built around dread and silence.
What it does
Shadow Tapes is a psychological horror mod for Forge on 1.20.1. Strange entities lurk deep underground and follow players through shadows, appearing briefly at a distance and vanishing before a player can react. The creatures hunt, haunt and follow, and their behavior is unpredictable with motives unknown. A player rarely sees them directly and mostly feels their presence.
The further a player goes underground, the stronger that presence becomes. Atmospheric cues and small shifts in the surroundings gradually build a feeling of unease, so the threat is felt through the world itself rather than through constant combat. The creatures attack immediately when they are observed, which makes looking at them a risk. Installation covers the server and each player's game. Only the 1.20.1 version of Forge is published, with the 1.0.3 build as the latest file, and the mod is released under All rights reserved.

How it compares
Legendary Creatures is a Forge mod for 1.20.1 that runs on client and server and is released under All rights reserved, so it sits in the same space but adds creatures rather than a horror atmosphere. Behind you. and watchbehind are also Forge mods for 1.20.1 on client and server under All rights reserved, while Mita Dweller shares that setup. The Confusing Dweller is the only option under the MIT License, though it is not open source.
