The Confusing Dweller

by BenniBlitz

The Confusing Dweller is a Forge mobs mod that adds a frightening shadow entity hunting players in dark caves, forests and at night.

ForgeClient and serverMIT License1.20.1

What it does

The entity moves silently and unnervingly fast through shadows, then chases players relentlessly. It can climb walls and break certain blocks on its way to a target. Coming too close overwhelms a player with darkness, and nearby players are afflicted with spooky effects while it is present. After some time the creature vanishes into the shadows, leaving only an eerie silence behind.

The Confusing Dweller spawns in dark caves, forests and shadowy areas once night falls, so players meet it during exploration rather than through a crafted item. A crucifix found in a structure can banish it, and ghosts appear to the player after the creature is banished. The mod requires GeckoLib to function properly, and it is published for Forge only, for Minecraft 1.20.1. Players set up the mod by making a Forge profile for the 1.20.1 release and loading a world, where the hunt begins.

Key features

  1. Silent shadow pursuit

The entity moves silently and fast through shadows, then relentlessly pursues its prey.

  2. Wall climbing and block breaking

It climbs walls and breaks certain blocks, so walls and barriers offer little protection.

  3. Darkness and spooky effects

Players close to the creature are overwhelmed by darkness and suffer spooky effects.

  4. Banishing with a crucifix

A crucifix found in a structure can banish the Confusing Dweller, and ghosts then appear.
