The Scarecrow

by Zcoper

The Scarecrow adds a hostile mob to Forge worlds: a figure that stays still by day, keeps its distance from players and turns aggressive when approached too closely.

What it does

The Scarecrow starts as a simple tool that keeps birds away from fields, but in the mod it comes alive at night. It awakens silently, follows players at a distance, and freezes water nearby as it watches. Staring at it for too long or moving too close makes it vanish, and its place can bring spiders, crows or pumplins. Some copies can also jump-scare a player with a small chance.

When its health drops low, soul flames surround the Scarecrow and make it stronger and more resistant. Its face begins burning when enraged, and it can summon minions, blind players and set them on fire with its attacks. Even after death a new Scarecrow can emerge elsewhere. A Scarecrow can also be found inside a Field structure, where it lacks the aggressive AI and stays motionless even at night.

The mod requires Geckolib, which must be installed alongside it. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. Files are published for Forge only, for 1.19.2, 1.19.4 and 1.20.1, and the latest file is 1.0.0 for 1.20.1. The mod is All rights reserved and is not open source.

Key features

The Scarecrow stays motionless during the day and wakes when night falls, then follows and watches the nearest player.

  2. Distance and freezing

  3. Enraged phase

  4. Minion summoning

Its attacks can blind and ignite players, and it summons minions that appear around the fight.

  5. Field structure

A Scarecrow can generate in a Field structure, where it is not aggressive and stays still even at night.
