Pit generates procedurally built dungeon structures in the world, each made of rooms that grow more valuable with depth.

What it does

Pit adds one new structure type to the world generator. Each structure averages about eight rooms deep, and the count changes with the Minecraft version. Structures appear roughly 40 chunks apart in the overworld, across most biomes, and some of them can also generate in oceans, the Nether, the End and a few other selected biomes. The mod adds new blocks, textures, mobs and items alongside the structures. Servers that run it need every player to install it too. Files are published for Forge and NeoForge for the 1.19.2 – 1.21.1 range, with builds for 1.19.2, 1.20.1 and 1.21.1.

Loot depends on depth and room type. Upper rooms carry common early items, including leather gear and basic food, while lower rooms hold enchanted iron armor and tools. The mod is described as vanilla friendly and works alongside other mods. The license is MIT License, and the project is not open source.

Key features

  1. Procedural dungeon structures

Pit structures are generated from rooms that are combined at random, with thousands of possible layouts across 22 room types.

  2. Rarity-based rooms

Rooms are chosen by rarity, and the rarer a room is, the better its loot tends to be.

  3. Hidden spawners and traps

Most rooms contain one or two hidden mob spawners along with several redstone traps, and some rooms hold mobs that stay until the adjacent room is cleared.

  4. Chests and containers

Some rooms replace loot with chests filled from materials found in the room, such as redstone supplies.
