Tag Stack
by macuguita
Tag Stack lets server owners set how many items stack together by assigning each item to a stack-size tag.
What it does
Tag Stack changes item stack sizes through item tags. A datapack tag under the stack namespace, such as stackable 16, lists the items that should use that maximum, so the size is set in data rather than in code. Eight tags cover sizes from 1 up to 64, and a single tag file can name any items in the game, including modded ones.
The mod is a Fabric mod that requires Fabric API and also runs on Quilt. Players join without it, since only the server has to run the mod. Builds cover 1.20.1 – 1.21.5 across ten release versions, and the latest file targets 1.21.5. The code is open source under the MIT License.
Key features
Tag-based stack sizes
Each item is assigned a maximum stack size by placing it in a tag, with no separate configuration per item.
Eight stack-size tags
Tags for 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 and 64 items let the owner choose the limit for any group of items.
Editable tag files
Items are added to a tag by editing a JSON file in the datapack, so changes need only a reload.
Modpack tuning
Modpack builders and server owners can tweak stack sizes across a whole pack without touching game code.
Compatibility

Use cases
Modpack stack tuning
A modpack team can raise or lower stack sizes for whole groups of items in one place.
Server-side balancing
A server owner can change how many items fit in one slot while players keep their vanilla client.
Who it’s for: Server owners and modpack builders who want to change item stack sizes through tags, rather than players who want a client-side change.
