Survival Fabric

by AlwaysHAK

Survival Fabric changes how join, quit and chat messages appear on a Fabric server, and adds a shared Ender Chest and a dimension indicator in the tab list.

FabricClient or server, optionalCC0 1.0 UniversalOpen source1.21.4 – 26.2

What it does

The mod lets server owners and players set custom join and quit messages, and a custom chat message format, with the text configurable through the mod's settings. A tab list dimension indicator shows which world each player is currently in, and a feature toggle lets individual parts be switched off without removing the mod.

The Shared Ender Chest feature gives players one ender chest they can open together. Version control is included as a setting. YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL) is required, and it must be installed next to Survival Fabric for the configuration screen to work. The mod is licensed under CC0 1.0 Universal and is open source, with public source code and an issue tracker. Files target Fabric for the 1.21.4 – 26.2 range, with 1.5.0 for 26.2 as the latest build from 2026-08-01.

Key features

  1. Custom join and quit messages

Join and quit announcements can be replaced with text set in the configuration, so a server can greet arrivals in its own style.

  2. Custom chat messages

The format of chat lines is configurable, letting server owners change how player names and messages are presented.

  3. Tab list dimension indicator

The tab list shows the dimension each player is in, so others can see at a glance which world a player is in.

  4. Shared Ender Chest

Players share a single ender chest, so items stored by one player can be reached by others on the same world.

How it compares

Full comparison

TooltipUtils is a client-side only Fabric mod under the MIT License, open source, and covers 1.21.8 – 26.1.1, so it changes tooltips rather than server messages. Quit from Game Menu is also client-side only and open source under the MIT License, for 1.19.4 – 26.3, and only adds a quit option to the pause menu. Multi Chat is client-side only, open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, and targets 1.21 – 26.3, so it works on the client chat window rather than server messages.

Questions

Does Survival Fabric need YetAnotherConfigLib?

Yes. YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL) is a required dependency and must be installed alongside Survival Fabric.

Does the server need Survival Fabric for the messages to work?

Either side can run it, and neither needs it. The custom messages are a server-side setting, so a server owner needs the mod for them to appear.

Which game versions does Survival Fabric support?

Fabric files cover 1.21.4, 1.21.5, 1.21.6, 1.21.7, 1.21.8, 1.21.11 and 26.2, with 1.5.0 for 26.2 as the latest file.

This mod is initially just created for our private Survival Server. As a challenge I'm trying to make it as user-friendly as possible. # Current feature-set
