Stuck - a backrooms mod

by ImortalF0x

Stuck is a Backrooms mod for Forge and NeoForge that spawns players in an endless yellow corridor dimension, with a Backrooms Overworld to return to.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverMIT License1.20.1 – 1.21.1

What it does

The Backrooms Dimension is generated procedurally as yellow corridors built from 15×15 block rooms, joined by 5-block wide doorways under 7-block tall ceilings. Some rooms open into Big Rooms, which appear in about 10% of cases and fuse neighboring spaces, while random passages link the sections together. Lighting comes from fluorescent fixtures in three states, some working, some flickering and some broken. A hidden terminal and a battery flashlight are among the things to find while exploring.

Players who create a new world with the mod installed are placed directly into the Backrooms. Dying there sends the player back into the Backrooms rather than the Overworld, and the dimension remembers the player. Hunger replaces the usual energy system, and stamina is managed by drinking Almond Water and by moving carefully while sprinting, jumping or attacking. Raw resources such as ores, trees and animals cannot be gathered inside, so players teleport to the Overworld to collect materials and return.

Stuck depends on Geckolib. Files exist for 1.20.1 on Forge and for 1.21.1 on NeoForge, and the environment is client and server, so the server and every player need it. The mod is released under the MIT License and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Procedural corridor dimension

An infinite yellow corridor dimension is generated as the player explores, with rooms, doorways and ceilings of fixed sizes.

  2. Big Rooms and linked sectors

Rare wide open spaces fuse rooms together, and random passages connect sections in ways that break a straight route.

  3. Lighting variety

Fluorescent fixtures appear working, flickering or broken, which shapes how dark each hallway feels.

  4. Hunger and Almond Water

Hunger takes the place of energy, and stamina is restored by drinking Almond Water after heavy sprinting, jumping or fighting.

  5. Creative tab and loot

Most blocks and items are in the Backrooms creative tab, and some items also appear as loot in the world.

Questions

Does Stuck require Geckolib?

Yes. Geckolib is the required dependency, so it must be installed alongside Stuck on Forge or NeoForge.

Does the server need Stuck installed?

Yes. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too.

Which Forge or NeoForge files are available?

Forge has a 0.1.1-alpha file for 1.20.1, and NeoForge has a 0.2.0-beta-1.21.1 file for 1.21.1. Both are alpha or beta builds, so bugs are expected.
