Strange infection

by Xikex321

Strange infection adds a spreading parasite to the world, where animals and monsters can be infected and turned into biomass for it to evolve with.

FabricForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.20.1 – 1.21.8

What it does

Strange infection introduces a dangerous infection that can take over a world over time. It begins slowly and grows stronger inside caves as the night goes on, and encounters with infected creatures become more frequent as time passes. The most common infected mob is the one that tries to infect other monsters, and the parasite hunts animals first, consuming them as living biomass.

The mod uses a life cycle and an evolution system, so the parasite changes across stages and several variants appear as the infection develops. Killing the last entity in an area can gain more infected creatures. The default blob form is the starting point, and an animal eater and a biomass mob add further forms. Its authors describe the mod as balanced with vanilla gameplay, and it was built with MCreator.

The mod is built for Fabric and Forge on 1.20.1 and 1.21.8, and it runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Its authors say it can be used inside modpacks. Fabric files target 1.21.8, and Forge files target 1.20.1, with the latest 2.0.0a1 for Fabric and 2.0a1 for Forge, released under All rights reserved.

Key features

  1. Spreading infection

Infection starts slowly in a world and gains ground as time passes, reaching more creatures.

  2. Parasite hunting

The parasite targets animals first, feeding on them to produce living biomass.

  3. Evolving variants

A life cycle and evolution system bring several parasite variants into play as the infection grows.

  4. Infection from kills

Killing the last entity in an area can gain more infected creatures, so the spread follows the player's actions.
